SAPI – Troubleshooting
This section deals with issues you may encounter after installation. Please check if your issue is listed, and if so, follow the steps under "How to Fix it".
All voices are wiped after the installation
If this happens, there are two possible reasons:
- you didn't run setup.exe with administrator rights
- you ran the installation with TTSAbair[...].msi
How to Fix it
For 1.:
- double-click on setup.exe
- choose the "remove" option
- follow the steps outlined by the installer
- reinstall with setup.exe as described in the istallation guide
For 2.:

I double-clicked on the .msi installer
The unzipped folder contains two files:
- setup.exe
- TTSAbair[...].msi
The istallation has to be done via setup.exe. If you run the istallation wizard via the MSI file, the SAPI voice will not be installed properly. You also need to have administrator rights to successfully perform the installation.
How to Fix it
- double-click on TTSAbair[...].msi
- choose the "remove" option
- follow the steps outlined by the installer
- reinstall with setup.exe as described in the istallation guide
I don't have the old installer anymore
In this case, you can remove old voices by using the Windows utility "Add or remove programs"
- press the Windows key
- type "Add or remove programs"
- click on "Add or remove programs" when it shows up
- scroll down to the search field that says "Search this list"
- type "TTSAbair"
- it will list all "TTSAbair..." installations
- select the one you want and uninstall it
I can't see the voices in Balabolka
Balabolka has three tabs:
SAPI 4 | SAPI 5 | Microsoft Speech Platform
You have to select "SAPI 5"
